Case Creating great workplace experiences

How GoDaddy, in cooperation with ISS, became Fortunes top 100 best company to work for

How do you make your workplace a fun and engaging place to be? And how do you create workplace experiences that attract, motivate and retain the top tier talents in your company?
GoDaddy had a vision to attract, motivate and retain top tier talent and sought to create a workplace experience that would serve as a physical manifestation of this vision and enhance innovation as the core of the company culture.
At the initial stages of the GoDaddy – ISS collaboration, key objectives of the project included:
  • Ensure all aspects of the service model, such as the food and guest services programs, reflect GoDaddy’s fun atmosphere and company ethos
  • Increase productivity and reduce employee attrition
  • Create an environment where people feel excited and empowered to go to work.
ISS brought operational expertise with a workspace program designed to ensure an exceptional experience for the GoDaddy employees. The operation of the facilities is therefore based on a service model that focuses on people versus task. The whole focus is on the genuine care of people and on having the right capability in the right place to ensure tasks are completed.

It is amazing to have a partner like ISS. During my work day, I do not need to worry about the back-end services, and how the services are handled. I know it gets done.

- Vivian van Eijsden, ISS Facility Manager at Accenture

Our goal is to not have the employees ever think about anything else other than performing their jobs and having fun while doing it. We do not want the employees to ever struggle with parking their cars, finding a comfortable spot for a meeting or even getting a coffee.

Understanding the millennial workforce at GoDaddy, we are focused on not only serving traditional food such as hamburgers and hot dogs. We know that the millennial generation appreciates eating healthy and has an appetite for new cuisines. Just like we know how much they care about sustainability. So we listen – and we act on it, making sure to create an environment that supports their values, their needs and their way of living.”

- Wade Lewis, the ISS Key Account Manager for GoDaddy

The services outsourced to ISS include among others; grounds, facilities management – and maintenance, experience management, security, food service, landscaping and much more. All these services go into one single Integrated Facility Service solution.

Calvin K. Crowder, Sr. Director of Corporate Real Estate at GoDaddy adds:

I find it interesting that ISS executes much in the same way that our own customer care teams do; through solid training, great recognition, and individual empowerment. Much like the evolution in customer care, I’m excited that the ISS GoDaddy team is pioneering an evolution in North American workplace services.”

The ISS facility management and service model has resulted in:

  • Cost savings due to lower turnover rates and recruitment costs
  • Approximately 100% increase in participation of the on-campus dining program
  • 86% of employees feeling that the GoDaddy facilities contribute to a good working environment
  • Numerous building awards and recent inclusion on FORTUNES ”Best Company to Work For” list for 2016
